Sometimes the best holidays are the ones where you can simply slow down.
At Poltarrow Farm, tucked away in the Cornish countryside, our cottages offer a peaceful place to spend time together. Wake up without an alarm, enjoy breakfast at your own pace and decide whether to head out exploring or spend the day doing very little at all.
With countryside views, woodland walks, wildlife to watch and a comfortable cottage to come home to, it’s easy to leave the everyday behind.
We’re a small, family-run collection of just six holiday cottages, so you’ll find plenty of space to enjoy yourselves without the bustle of a large holiday complex.
Deer Park Cottage – made for two
Deer Park is our one-bedroom cottage, and it’s a particular favourite with couples. In fact, many of its guests return year after year.
It’s a lovely choice if you’re looking for somewhere comfortable and peaceful to spend a few days or a whole week together.
Whether you’re planning long walks, leisurely lunches or simply a change of scenery, Deer Park makes a welcoming base for your Cornish holiday.
Red Deer Cottage – a little more room to relax
Although Red Deer sleeps up to four, it’s also a popular choice for couples who enjoy having a little more space.
The cottage is arranged on one level, with lovely countryside views and its own private terrace that isn’t overlooked. It’s a particularly nice spot for a morning coffee or sitting outside at the end of the day.
With two bedrooms, a comfortable living area and everything you need for a relaxing stay, Red Deer is a lovely alternative for a holiday for two.
Time to slow down
One of the loveliest things about staying at Poltarrow is having the freedom to do as much or as little as you please.
Take a wander along our farm trail, explore the woodland or spend a quiet hour beside the lake. You might spot some of the wildlife that shares the farm with us, or simply find a sunny spot to sit and enjoy the countryside views.
There’s no timetable to follow. The days are yours to enjoy, at your own pace.
A warm welcome, without any fuss
Poltarrow has been in our family since 1982, and we still look after our guests ourselves.
You’ll find a homemade welcome waiting in your cottage, along with the little practical things that make settling in easy.
We’re always happy to recommend a favourite place to eat, suggest somewhere to visit or help with anything you need during your stay.
Equally, if you’d rather shut the door and enjoy a peaceful week together, that’s absolutely fine too.
Indoor Swimming Pool
Whether you fancy a morning swim or a relaxing dip after a day exploring Cornwall, our indoor swimming pool is a lovely extra to enjoy during your stay. And with only six cottages sharing the facilities, you may even find you have the pool to yourselves.
The water is kept at a wonderfully warm 30°C, making it a pleasure to enjoy even when the Cornish weather isn’t quite behaving itself!
A few useful things to know:
- The pool is 10m long and 4m wide, with a constant depth of 1.4m.
- Wide walk-in steps make getting in and out easier.
- There's a changing room with a shower and changing facilities.
- The pool is available to guests from 8am to 8pm when open.
- The pool is open from the Easter holidays until the end of October half term. It also opens for Christmas and New Year, and February half term. Outside these periods, the pool is closed.
